2021 Fresh Start Swim Series-St Pete Beach
November 20, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Welcome to the Fresh Start Swim Series. It’s been a rough last few years for the world and Fresh Start Swim Series is looking to start over, bring fun, laughter, and inspiration back into the lives of our athletes by improving open water swim competitions and making the world a better place. Fresh Start Swim Series is composed of four separate events and held at three separate locations, the first of which consists of the 500m, a 2.5k, a 5k, and a 10k to be held at St. Pete Beach, rated #1 beach in the US and #5 world wide. The 500m, 2.5 k, and 5k will be single loops, while the 10k will be a double loop, all near the shoreline. Lastly and most importantly, the Fresh Start Swim Series is a partnership between three fabulous non-profits; Forgotten Coast K9 enabling our veterans suffering from PTSD with the ability to train their own highest quality service dog, Florida Dream Center providing resources for the victims of human trafficking, and Open Water Open Arms sharing learn to swim education and access to low income families.

Wetsuit policy: Water temp should be between 60-80 degrees, if temperature is 71 and up wetsuits will be allowed, but swimmers wearing wetsuits will not qualify for prizes (unless everyone in their age bracket decides to wear a wetsuit), and if the water is 70 or under all swimmers will qualify for the same races regardless of wetsuit status. Please note if you chose not to wear the wetsuit with the water 70 or under, you can still race but you may be competing for prizes against those that chose to wear the wetsuit. Unfortunately, because we are a very small race, we cannot have prize categories for wetsuit and non wetsuit groups at this point. We are doing our best to balance the needs of our open water swim community that likes things brisk and the needs of our triathlon community and the rules/conditions they are used to. At this point in time, there is a good chance the water will be cold enough that swimmers wearing wetsuits will qualify for awards.
We will also be having Swimmer With a Story awards: 1 male and 1 female to be nominated by their peers either prior to or during the race for their personal accomplishments or community contributions, if you would like to nominate someone please email [email protected] and put swimmer with a story in the header.
